    武丹（1662-1721），字衷白，江苏南京人。此作淡设色。布局作缓坡层峦、茂林掩映下的山楼中有二人，一坐一立，对景清谈，画面意境空灵幽远，丰韵沉厚。画法远宗宋人，并略具明沈周遗风；通幅笔法清静不苟。笔墨熟而不甜，淡而弥厚，实而弥清。在追摹古人方面，下足了实实在在的功夫。国家一级文物。（杨樵康）

  Wu Dan (1662-1721) was from Nanjing,Jiangsu.The work is lightly colored.The layout is as such:facing the scene,two persons sit chatting in the house,which is set off with the flourishing woods in the hills with gentle slopes and ranges upon ranges.
  The artistic conception of the picture is dreamy looming in the distance,with thick charm.
