    陈洪绶(1598-1652)，字章侯，号老莲、悔迟。浙江诸暨人。明末清初著名书画家。善画山水、花鸟，尤工人物，为海派人物画创始人。
    作品描绘清秋时节，在一蕉叶掩映的假山旁，有一隐士纶巾捻须，似在谈诗论道。旁有一道人俯身倾听。石案上陈设笔墨纸砚及茶具等，案前供荷花。右边凳上坐一妇人，着青色长裙，手执丝扇，面对着抱琴弹奏并侧坐于蕉叶上的一歌伎，身后恭立二侍女。整幅画在淡雅宁静中给人以动态感受。画面为工笔设色，落行书款，钤“洪绶”（朱文）、“章侯”（白文）章二枚。庚寅年（1650年）作。国家一级文物。（朱红）

  Chen Hongshou (1598-1652) was from Zhuji,Zhejiang,a famous calligrapher and painter between the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty,good at painting landscapes,birds and flowers.Especially,he excelled at painting figures.He was the founder of Haishang Figures Painting School.
  The entire picture gives people a vivid sight under quietly elegant and calm circumstances.
